You never know what you might see when you are out for a walk on the farm.
This morning the guests following the Corvid Trail came across two young deer – a surprise for all parties!
The other day out on Harley’s Mountain – a long way from a water source I thought – this little fellow hopped across my path.
He even waited whilst I photographed him and gave me a cheeky wink!!!
The rain hasn’t stopped but there has been sunshine between the showers.
We have three very thirsty lambs to bottle feed four times a day.
It doesn’t matter what age you are there is something special about feeding young animals and watching them grow!
Will the rain ever stop?
Easter is just around the corner and yet it still seems like winter with all the rain. The fields are water logged and the streams are full but with a few dry days it would be a different picture – just a bit of breeze on a dry day can make all the difference.
It will soon be lambing time and time to bottle feed the cade lambs. Then surely the weather will have picked up and spring will be here!
During the fitting of a new pool liner the underwater lights were reinstated.
It does create quite a nice atmosphere for an evening swim!
A long time ago…… well during the first Covid19 lockdown to be precise ….we were sat outside on a lovely sunny evening enjoying the metal bird that we had been given and had just put up on the barn.
Little did we know but by the next morning 28 other metal birds would be winging their way to Hicks Farm!
The idea of using the birds as markers for walks on the farm had been born.
But…. it takes time to decide on the route, argue over the position of the birds and then to actually put them in place. Now we have several in place marking a walk alongside the stream to a bench placed in memory of a much loved friend, where you can see if you can spot the heron, kingfisher and other metal birds as you rest.
More ravens mark a route up through the wood on the mountain side and we still have a few more to put up but we are getting there.
